Specialized Signs is located at Newbridge on the outskirts of Edinburgh, close to all the major roads leading into the city, as well as Edinburgh Airport. Our premises are not only visible from the road, but from the sky!
The importance of a good business location cannot be overstated as it plays a critical role in the success of that business. Being located next to one of the major routes in and out of Edinburgh really helps increase our visibility to potential customers.
Our prime location ensures that we can easily be found, access to our site is so straightforward, and our amazing signage makes us difficult to miss. Having new, purpose-built premises meets the needs of our customers as well as our staff, and the energy efficiency measures incorporated when the building was designed and built, ensure our carbon footprint is kept as low as possible.
For our business to succeed we rely upon a skilled workforce so being located in an area near public transport links helps attract and retain our employees. Regular bus services pass us, there is also the option of using the tram from Edinburgh Airport / Ingliston Park and Ride which is only a short walk away – very handy when needing to get from one end of Edinburgh to another!
By contrast, our previous home was located within the busy suburb of Corstorphine, not too far from where we are now, but being in a busy urban area and on one of the main thoroughfares into Edinburgh meant larger deliveries could sometimes be a challenge. Our new site allows us to facilitate deliveries without the worry of holding up traffic, or blocking pavements. We are able to operate a forklift safely which has been a great help when unloading pallets of materials, and with lots of extra space, we are able to keep more stock on site which in turn reduces the number of deliveries we need to have. We have plenty of parking spaces so customers can easily park when coming to visit us, or to collect their orders without running the risk of being issued with a parking fine!
Having such a large car park area also helps us accommodate larger vehicles for our vehicle wrapping technicians to work on. As part of the construction project, we installed a new wrap bay which on any normal day can accommodate two vans / cars but it’s not uncommon for coaches and even double-decker buses to be here as well which is quite exciting and would not have been possible previously.
A good business location is not just about geography, albeit that’s an important part of any decision to relocate, particularly from an established site. We believe that this has been a very positive move for the business, it’s lovely to work in such a smart and modern building with all the mod cons you could want, but more importantly, it allows room for the business to continue to grow, securing the long-term success of Specialized Signs!
