In September of 2025, Specialized Signs helped to refresh the Caps Sports Bar and Rink Rats Hockey Shop signage at Murrayfield Ice Arena.
This project consisted of both illuminated and non-illuminated signage across the two vendors.
For Caps Sports Bar, we produced three pieces of signage. The first being a 5100mm wide matte grey fascia displaying the name of the bar in over 4 meters worth of 10mm push through opal acrylic letters, all faced with bright cherry red translucent vinyl which draws the eye to the location whether it is illuminated or not.
The other two signs consist of a brand-new circular face projecting sign that face illuminates, sporting the bar name in cherry red translucent vinyl. And a new opal acrylic slab, with translucent vinyl text applied to the face, installed in an already existing light box on site. Due to the age of the existing lightbox, our team also replaced the existing LEDs within the sign to ensure that the sign shines bright and draws visiting fans eyes for years to come.
In between this collection of signs, sits two signs for the Edinburgh Capitals Hockey Shop – Rink Rats.
Above the door, is a folded matte grey sign tray with the Rink Rats logo applied to the face in printed and weeded vinyl. The lettering of the sign is a mix of illuminated sign types – with RINK RATS being produced with 10mm push through acrylic, and HOCKEY SHOP being fret cut and backed with an opal acrylic slab due to the text being on the smaller side. Putting these two opal types together on one sign tray is always an effective way to add depth to a sign tray. All of the illuminated signs within this project are internally illuminated with bright white LEDs.
On the wall next to this sign is a non-illuminated flat ACM directional sign that points customers to the front door of Rink Rats. This was produced using a CNC cut-to-size matte grey ACM panel with print and cut vinyl applied to the face to match the branding of the main Rink Rats sign.
For years Specialized Signs has been the go-to signage provider for Murrayfield Ice Arena both internally and externally. With exciting projects and rebrands running through our office and workshop, we look forward to seeing where we’ll go next with the company.
